Protecting nature, water and climate | Impact on the environment
Global warming, loss of biodiversity and water scarcity all point to the need to take greater responsibility for nature and the environment. The textile industry is also involved in many of these negative environmental impacts, and is therefore on the verge of undergoing a change.
We are actively involved in shaping this change and rising to the challenge! We are reducing negative environmental impacts and conserving resources by taking action on climate protection, chemicals management and animal welfare.
The textile industry is responsible for nearly 10% of global CO2 emissions, more than international aviation and maritime shipping combined (source: EU). In order to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, we are currently calculating our carbon footprint in order to work with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to establish scientifically sound plans for the reduction of greenhouse gases.
The textile industry is responsible for approximately 20% of global water pollution (source: EU). To address this, we monitor the use of chemicals using digital chemical management systems. This allows us to control which chemicals are used in production. We monitor compliance with these standards through wastewater testing. We also use innovative processes to reduce our environmental impact.
In our strategy for more sustainable materials, we have continuously been setting ourselves targets for the use of even more sustainable materials in all our products for several years now. And we’ll continue to work on it in the future – for even better styles!
